After GM stopped importing German-built Opels to North America following the 1975 model year, Opel kept innovating with stylish performance vehicles in Europe (where they outsold Volvo, Saab, Porsche and Mercedes), with some of the 1990's models shown below.
Other Opels were imported to the US but re-named, such as the Chevy Chevette, Pontiac T-1000 and Le Mans, Cadillac Catera and the Saturn Vectra.
The Latest news, is that Opel is now designing new vehicle lines for Saturn, which will be produced in the US starting in 2006, including the sporty open-air "Saturn Sky" roadster.
